StormTrap’s Power Move: A New Era in Stormwater

StormTrap just made a splash in the stormwater world.

The Illinois-based company, known for its underground stormwater systems, has acquired Faircloth Skimmer, the go-to brand for surface drainage devices on construction sites nationwide. Announced in early July, the deal unites two heavyweights in a bid to streamline how stormwater is managed from the ground up.

Faircloth’s signature product, a floating skimmer used to safely drain sediment basins, is now part of StormTrap’s broader toolbox. The merger creates an all-in-one offering that spans storage, treatment, and surface water control. For engineers and cities juggling tighter timelines and stricter rules, fewer moving parts means fewer headaches.

“This is about more than growth,” said StormTrap CEO Nate Olds. “It’s about simplifying design and giving our clients the speed, certainty, and sustainability they need to stay ahead.”

The move comes as billions in federal infrastructure funding begin to flow toward local stormwater projects. With that money comes urgency and a clear demand for systems that are easy to permit, install, and maintain.

By owning both the platform and a key component, StormTrap gains a strategic edge. Instead of mixing and matching across vendors, clients can now rely on a single source for full-system performance. That is likely to resonate with developers, municipalities, and environmental regulators alike.

Industry analysts say this signals a larger shift. “This isn’t just a business deal. It’s a sign of industry evolution,” said one infrastructure expert based in Washington. “Integration is the way forward.”

The acquisition also raises the bar for long-term maintenance and compliance, two sticking points in many legacy systems. With a footprint already stretching across North America, StormTrap’s expanded portfolio could have ripple effects across the sector.

In a space that is rapidly evolving to meet climate and water quality goals, this move may redefine what it means to be a stormwater leader. StormTrap did not just expand, it made a statement.
