StormTrap’s Big Move Signals Stormwater Shift

The U.S. stormwater industry is entering a new phase of consolidation and innovation. On July 8, 2025, StormTrap announced its acquisition of Faircloth Skimmer, a North Carolina firm known for its floating drainage devices that reduce sediment and pollution in construction runoff. The move underscores a growing emphasis on integrated, sustainable water systems as communities face mounting climate and infrastructure challenges.

StormTrap has long specialized in underground systems that capture, store, and treat runoff, while Faircloth has focused on above-ground skimmer technology that protects waterways during land development. Together, the two companies now offer end-to-end water management solutions for municipalities, engineers, and developers seeking to meet tightening environmental standards.

“This acquisition allows us to deliver complete stormwater solutions from start to finish,” a StormTrap spokesperson said in a company statement. “We can now better address water quality, sustainability, and community resilience.”

The timing reflects broader national concerns. Across the country, heavier rainfall and urban flooding are straining drainage networks and exposing gaps in local infrastructure. Analysts said the combined expertise of StormTrap and Faircloth could help bridge those gaps, creating scalable systems that align performance with long-term environmental goals.

Some observers note that consolidation within the sector could challenge smaller firms. Yet others see the merger as part of a natural evolution toward collaboration and green innovation. The integration of complementary technologies, they said, signals an industry increasingly defined by shared solutions rather than isolated fixes.

Beyond its business implications, the partnership represents a vision for the future of resilient infrastructure, one in which design and sustainability advance together. As climate pressures intensify, the StormTrap–Faircloth alliance may serve as a model for how integrated systems can strengthen communities and safeguard waterways for decades to come.
